The actor-actor Kapil Sharma again landed in the controversy. After having been in the news earlier this year for an incident of shots in front of his restaurant in Canada and allegations of injury to the feelings of a Sikh community, Sharma is now faced with the heat of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS).

On Thursday, MNS leader, Ameya Khopkar, who runs the party’s wing wing, issued a severe warning to the actor to have allowed Mumbai to be called “Bombay” or “Bambai” during his show Netflix The Great Indian Kapil Show. Khopkar said that if it continues, the MNS will launch a strong agitation against Sharma.
“The name of this city is Mumbai. On the Kapil Sharma show, we observed that the city is called Bombay or Bambai. It’s not just an objection, it’s anger. If you can call other cities by their own names like Chennai, Bengaluru and Kolkata, why are you in your city? Mumbai is your karmabhomy. Do not insult this city, do not insult the inhabitants of Mumbai, “said Khopkar, addressing the media.
He also added: “If this happened by mistake, then correct the error. Anyone who comes in your show, whether celebrities or anchors, say not to call Mumbai like Bombay or Bambai. They must say Mumbai. If that does not happen, the MNS will launch a strong agitation.”

The warning came after a clip of the show has become viral, in which the human actress Qureshi, while speaking of her link with her brother Saqib Saleem, described Mumbai as “Bombay”. The episode also included Shilpa Shetty and Shamita Shetty.
Kapil Sharma is currently organizing the third season of the Great Indian Kapil Show, which was presented on Netflix on June 21.
