KL Rahul Snubs DC Staff, Credits Ex KKR Coach For Revamped T20 Batting Approach

After missing the opening match of Delhi’s capital season, Kl Rahul succeeded in the field in the Indian Premier (IPL) 2025, playing an influential role in the victory of the franchise against the Giants Chennai Super Kings on Saturday. Rahul, who opened the striker in the absence of FAF du Plessis, marked a 77,77 to emerge as the team winner against CSK. After the match, Rahul caught up with DC’s mentor, Kevin Pietersen, in a frank interview where he shared complex details of his revitalized love for white ball cricket.
Pietersen, who is one of Delhi behind the scenes staff, expressed his admiration for Rahul’s intention in T20 Cricket in the last two games.
“Your intention in Vizag, you struck at 300, and I was satisfied with you. Today, hitting at 150, still on a different counter … You absolutely have to buzz that you are able to adapt your style to modern game,” Pietersent said during a conversation with Rahul in Chepauk.
Rahul, who works hard to return to Team India’s Cricket T20 plans, has credited the deputy coach of the national team Abhihek Nayar for helping him improve his game in the shortest format. Nayar also played an important role in helping the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to raise the title IPL 2024 last season.
“I worked very hard on my white ball game in the past year.
Rahul was often accused of not showing enough intention, whether at the Kings of Punjab or Lucknow super-managers.
“I think that somewhere along the way, I lost the pleasure of hitting the borders and hitting six. I wanted to take the game in depth, deep, deep, and that was somehow in my head. But now I realized that I have to go back,” said Rahul during the cat with Pieters in a video shared by IPL.
“I’m not thinking too much about the game. I don’t think about taking it in depth or any of this. Just see the ball and try to be aggressive. Try putting pressure on the bowling player and the opposition and you appreciate limits,” he added.
