‘Letting Go Jos Buttler, Yuzvendra Chahal…’: Ex-India Star Slams RR’s Auction Strategy

The Royals of Rajasthan spend a terrible moment in the current edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Until now, the team led by Sanju Samson has lost three games out of five while the players are wanted. During their recent match against the Gujarat titans, RR lost 58 points after failing to reduce the target of 218. Speaking of the sudden fall of the team, the former striker of India Robin Uthapppa criticized RR and declared that the management of the team had not made a strong team to the Mega Auctions.

Before the mega auctions, RR published Jos Buttler, Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravichandran Ashwin, among others. Uthapppa said that the cowardly buttler has proven costly for the 2008 champions.

“And I think that is where RR was wrong in the auctions is not. I think that the fact that they let Jos Butler, Ashwin, Yuzi Chahal leave, they just left too many holes. Like today, if Shimron Hetmyer is injured, they do not have a replacement for starred sport.

The former star of Australia, Shane Watson, who was also part of the discussion, said that the link between Samson and Buttler had a positive impact on the team.

“The connection that Sanju has as a leader with Jos Butler also has an enormous influence in and around the group. There are therefore other factors not only on your field performance on the ground that add so much value, which is why it simply continues to scratch me.

Meanwhile, the Skipper RR Sanju Samson was sentenced to a fine of Rs 24 Lakh after his team maintained a slow exaggerated pace during the IPL 2025 meeting against the Gujarat titans on Wednesday.

It was a bad day for RR because they were completely outdated by GT and the team led by Samson collapsed with a 58 -point defeat. Samson was sentenced to a fine for breaking the IPL code of conduct and it was the second time that RR had a slow pace during this year’s competition.

Earlier, after the match against Chennai Super Kings, captain of replacement Riyan Parag was sentenced to a fine of Rs 12 Lakh.
