Sunil Chhetri Aims For Glory As Bengaluru FC Face-Off Against Mohun Bagan In ISL Final

The winners of the Mohun Bagan League imagine their chances of finishing a double despite the challenge to look at them in the form of a formidable team from Bengaluru FC during the ISL Cup final here on Saturday. The match will be played at the MBSG Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan (VYBK) fortress with a stadium raw packed for them, but BFC remains not disturbed when they are heading for what should be a blockbuster shock. Mohun Bagan’s super giant coach, Jose Molina, spoke of not worrying about what happened in the past, while BFC Gaffer Gerard Zaragoza and Captain Gurpreet Singh Sandhu qualified Kolkata a second house.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Molina stressed the importance of looking forward and not worrying about the past.

“I don’t care what happened in the past. I try to do my best for Mohun Bagan Super Giant. We have done well to win the shield of the League and we are motivated to win the ISL Cup too.

“I don’t need additional motivation because we lost the final last year. We are already motivated enough.” Bengaluru FC’s head coach, Gerard Zaragoza, who has shown exemplary camaraderie by helping to translate a question for his Molina counterpart, was reprimanded about the Grandsstens of the Mecca of Indian football.

“We are very motivated for the finals and excited for the game. Everything is fine. We are confident and Kolkata is almost like our second house, because we were here for the Durand Cup. We had good playoffs and we look forward to the grand finale.” The captain of the MBSG Subhasish Bose, which Molina joked the joke as an attacker in the light of his score form in this edition, highlighted the meaning of the place as a local boy.

“I am always delighted to play in front of our fans at home. I want fans to support us with all my heart against the Bengaluru FC tomorrow.” The MBSGs are the winners of the Shield League, while the Bengaluru FC finished third in the classification, then exceeded the challenges which struck them in the eliminator and the semi-final to go to the shock of the summit.

This is a fourth appearance of the ISL final for BFC in just eight seasons, while the MBSG became the first team to reach this consecutive stage.

This match is a reminder of the ISL 2022-23 event test, when these two games clashed in the season’s final, with the Kolkata-based team, triumphant via penalties in a very tight competition.

They are fortunate to repeat this feat in front of a noisy crowd for him this time, while the Bengaluru FC will trust their recent form to distort the MBSG record to remain undefeated at home so far in the current campaign.
