“MS Dhoni Asked Him…”: What CSK Legend Told MI Debutant Vignesh Puthur During Viral IPL 2025 Interaction




Mumbai Indians (MI) Spinner Vignesh Puthur became a feeling on the Internet, after the exploits of its 2025 IPL debut against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) last week. Puthur had only played three T20 before his emission from El Clasico, but despite a small sample, the 24-year-old gave a good account of himself, rejecting Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shivam Dube and Deepak Hooda in his early days. Even CSK’s icon, MS Dhoni, seemed impressed by the Kerala’s leg spinner, while he caught up after the match.

Fans were curious to know what Dhoni said to Puthur during their viral interaction. Now Puthur’s childhood friend Sreerag has revealed the interior details of their interaction. Sreerag had called Puthur the next morning after his sensational beginnings.

“Eddaaa, Pulli Entha da Paranchu? (What did Ms. Dhoni said) was what I first asked for because even my parents were impatient to know,” said Sreerag The Indian Express.

“Dhoni asked him how old he was and told Vignesh to continue doing the same things that brought him to IPL,” he added.

Sreerag also revealed that the last days were overwhelming for the parents of Vignesh.

“They were clearly surprised. Right now, you have to stay faithful to your roots and that is what I told them. We have seen what rapid reputation and money could do to Crick players. We saw it with Vinod Kambli then and now we see it with Prithvi Shaw. This game is not doing it good or bad,” said Sreerag.

Even the player admitted that he was struck with stars

“I never thought in my life that I would play with all these players,” said a smiling puthur addressing his star locker room after presenting the best badge of the launcher in the internal honors of the team’s post-match.

With him, Mi seems to have uncovered another new talent like Jasprit Bumrah and Hhelik Pandya, also discovered from the heavy worn, thanks to a robust screening system.

The team, however, started another IPL with a defeat, even if the loss of Sunday had a silver lining with Puthur making its presence feeling against a legendary side like the CSK.

Puthur is currently continuing my in English literature from the PTM Govt College Perinthalmanna at Calicut University.

He has not yet played first -class cricket apart from a brief passage in the Kerala Cricket League and in the Premier League of Tamil Nadu, but his talent was enough for Mi to the Embell.
