Navjot Sidhu Roasts MS Dhoni’s CSK Captaincy Return: “Hype Was As If Lion’s Coming…”

The return of MS Dhoni to Chennai Super Kings Captaincy after almost 700 days ended with the greatest loss of the team (in terms of remaining balls) in the IPL against Kolkata Knight Riders in Chennai on Friday. CSK could only manage 103/9 in 20 Overs – their lower total of all time in their my Chidambaram stadium. KKR hunted the target in just 10.1 overs. After CSK’s designated skipper, Ruturaj Gaikwad, was excluded due to an elbow injury, Ms. Dhoni was appointed captain. There was a lot of media threshing concerning his return, but he could only mark 1 out of four balls.

The former striker of India, Navjot Singh Sidhu, made a brutal comment on the failure of Dhoni.

“”Arey Dhoni Aa Rahe Hain Ji Jaise Sher Aaya, Sher Aaya, Hype Thi, Badi excitement Thi, by Khoda Pahaad Nikli Chuhiya. (People said that Dhoni is coming, the lion is coming. There was so much media and excitement. But there was nothing to do), “he said during the comments.

After Chennai Super Kings (CSK) underwent his fifth defeat on the Trot in IPL 2025, the former captain of Australia Michael Clarke said that the five -time champions were completely on the run and is the moment for them to risk everything for winning victories in the rest of the season.

At the my Chidambaram stadium, despite the return of MS Dhoni to the captain, CSK was a pale shadow of their dominant self while the disciplined quieurs of KKR restricted them at 103/9 – their lower IPL low on the lawn at home. With reigning champions, KKR finally won by eight counters, CSK suffered its greatest defeat in IPL in terms of remaining bullets (59) and is still rooted in ninth place in the points table.

“The counter looked quite difficult to beat. There was a little movement with the new ball and certainly a little rotation. I think that Chennai Super Kings was wrong. The way they continued there – it is clear that they have confidence. And their intention – well, there was no intention.”

“For the moment, this seems to be a very conservative approach – just trying to get closer to winning or avoiding a great defeat. Instead, they should throw everything on the line, risk everything and try to win the game.”

“This kind of change is easier to say than to do. Just like a good confident feeling can become contagious in a winning locker room, the same thing applies when you lose. That losing the feeling persists, and it is difficult to get rid of sometimes,” said Clarke on Jiostar.
