NDTV Exclusive: Why Sports Must Shape India’s Future

Sports play a crucial role in the growth and development of individuals and nations. As a country, we have made significant progress both in alphabetical and digital order in recent years. However, our physical development decreased during the same period. This change highlights the urgent need to recognize the importance of sports to shape our collective future. Sports instill fundamental life lessons such as resilience in the face of defeat, the ability to bounce back, discipline, perseverance and hard work. These features are essential for each individual to succeed in life. In a nation that aspires to grow and prosper, sports play a central role in promoting these qualities.
It is imperative that children are committed to sport from an early age, not only as a recreational activity but as a serious prosecution with professional aspirations. The advantages of professional sports prevail by far on those of the occasional game, as they provide structured development and instill qualities that contribute to long -term success.
In my opinion, each child, whatever their socioeconomic experience, can benefit from the practice of sports professionally. As a nation, we must actively encourage this approach. Instead of focusing only on identifying talents, we must aim to involve all young children in sport in the mentality to become professional athletes. The choice of sport must be guided by cultural factors, personal ability and individual interest.
As children progress, there should be structured control points, although they can vary depending on the sport – where we carry out a realistic potential assessment using the sports sciences. This assessment should determine whether an athlete has the potential to compete in the world class. If it becomes obvious that a child does not have the necessary attributes to reach the elite levels, his energy and his skills should be redirected to other areas where he can excel.
The age at which this transition occurs will vary according to different sports but is generally between 13 and 19 years old. At each exit point, it is crucial to provide appropriate advice and support to ensure that these children pass successfully to new career paths. This structured approach will allow them to take advantage of the discipline and the values acquired through sports in other aspects of their lives.
Now imagine a nation where each child actively participates in sports, benefits from experience and is transformed into a disciplined, determined and resilient individual. These qualities will not only make them better athletes, but also better professionals in the field they choose to continue.
To really exploring the full potential of your physical capacities is essential to cultivate a visionary state of mind on the mental front.
Essentially, education without incomplete sports sports. I would also extend this definition to include other physical disciplines such as art, music and dance, which contribute to the holistic development of an individual.
