On Refusal To Host PSL Matches, UAE Official Says “We Owe It To BCCI And Jay Shah”

While India and Pakistan remain in rubbers in the middle of the ongoing tensions at the border, the cricket relations between the two nations also seem to be in a historic hollow. The first T20 league based on the Pakistan franchise – Pakistan Super League – was postponed indefinitely, after their request for moving the water tournament was refused by the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB). Likewise, the remaining matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL), undoubtedly the best franchise league in the world, was temporarily suspended for a week.

According to a report, the ECB has dismissed the PCB’s request to move PSL matches following a boost from the senior Cricket Indian officials, notably the Chairman of the Cricket Control Council in India (BCCI) and the current chief of the International Cricket Council (CIC), Jay Shah.

The report, which was published by Cricbuzz, highlighted close ties between BCCI and the ECB, dating from Covid-19 days when an IPL and a half season was staged in the water.

“We owe it to the BCCI and Jay Bhai,” said an ECB manager Spitrecognizing the Indian role in the matter.

Although the BCCI has the financial constraints to organize the IPL outside India, the same cannot be said of PCB. Currently, the future of the PSL remains uncertain.

“We, at the PCB, also have sincere respect for the mental well-being of participating players and the feelings of our foreign players, and we respect the concerns of their families who want to see them at home,” said the PCB, admitting that players were not willing to continue in the League.

Four championship games and as many dams have been played to play in the PSL.

Things could improve between India and Pakistan in the coming days after US President Donald Trump announced that the nations had accepted a “full and immediate ceasefire”.
