Pep Guardiola says he will take a break in football when he leaves Manchester City but does not know if he will retire the match. The 54 -year -old man signed a two -year contract extension in November by keeping him at Etihad until June 2027, which would be 11 years after joining the club. It is by far the longest coach of his career – he spent four years in Barcelona, for whom he also played, and three in charge of Bayern Munich.
The Catalan led an unprecedented period of success for City, leading them to six Premier League titles and offering a first crown of the Champions League as part of a triple in 2022/23, but this season was difficult.
“After my contract with City, I’m going to stop. I’m sure,” Guardiola told Espn. “I don’t know if I’m going to retire, but I’m going to take a break.” How I want to remember, I don’t know.
“All the coaches want to win so that we can have a memorable job, but I believe that fans of Barcelona, Bayern Munich and the city were having fun watching my teams play. I do not think that we should never live if we are going to be memorized.
“When we die, our families cry for two or three days, then that’s it – you are forgotten. In the career of the coaches, there are good and bad, the important thing is that the vouchers are recalled longer.”
On Friday, the fourth city, which plays Wolves, was favorites to conclude a fifth consecutive title in the Premier League this season, but has undergone a dramatic collapse.
With four championship games of the season to go, they are 21 points behind in Champions Liverpool and locked a fight to qualify for the Champions League next season.
Guardiola, whose team has a third successive final of the FA Cup, against Crystal Palace, said that it was a season of “great learning” and that he did not expect the decline of City to be so steep.
“I knew there would be a time when we fell, but we fell a lot,” he said. “We did not expect to be so far, but we cannot win them all.
“What we did for 10, nine years was exceptional, but now we have to sit down and learn to try to understand what we have to produce in the future.”
Guardiola said in December that he would not “take another team” after leaving City, although he left the possibility of becoming a national coach.
