“Senior Indians Do Way Worse”: BCCI Blasted For Double Standard Over Digvesh Rathi’s Celebrations

The Lucknow Super Giant (LSG) spinner, Digesh Rathi, impressed a lot of bowling in the current Indian League (IPL) 2025. Digvesh has often given its counters to its teams at crucial intervals of this campaign. Purchased for a small sum of 30 INR Lakh in the mega auction, Digvesh celebrations after taking counters in the T20 league probably cost the franchise more than they paid to benefit from its services. Although the Cricket Control Council in India (BCCI) did not get away from penalizing Rathi, the former New Zealand cricket player Simon Doull believes that the punishments have been unfair.
Doull, who is one of the experts of season 18 of the current IPL, says he saw stars of senior India do much worse than Rathi. However, it was the Spinner LSG that has been reprimanded twice while the actions of other big names have been ignored.

“The team must pay this (fines). I don’t like it. I love celebrations, I don’t think he did something wrong. I saw senior Indian players do much worse, be in your face and not get a fine. They make the example of a young man who is, making a note in his notebook?” Doull said in a conversation on Spit.
Digvez began the celebration of disconnection after rejecting the drummer of the kings of Punjab Priyansh Arya. It was later revealed that Digves and Priyansh are good friends, while the SG Spinner party act was nothing other than jokes between the two. However, the Council decided to penalize Rathi.
“Priyansh Arya (which Digvesth rejected to bring out the celebration for the first time) is his very good friend. He did it on a friendly note, but as he is on the verge of suspension, I hope he would not repeat it,” said Shahbaz Ahmed, colleague LSG Spinner.
Rathi changed his celebration a little when the Lucknow franchise faced Kolkata Knight Riders in a match of the IPL League on Tuesday. The spinner celebrated the signature on the ground instead of the player on his hand, in the hope of not seeing the painting this time.
