Naomi Osaka was eliminated from Italian Open on Monday after being beaten by Peyton Stearns 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (7/4) while his struggles for the upper level continued. In the quarter -finals, Stearns will face one of the Danielle Collins, who eliminated the title champion IGA Swiatek, or Elina Svitolina after having crossed an attrition match which lasted two hours and 43 minutes on a bakery field. Osaka is another big name that American Stearns beat in Rome after also eliminating the fifth head of Madison Keys in the previous round. The former world number one Osaka has traveled a long way with the player who won four Grand Colem since his return last year of a 15 -month break from tennis for the birth of his daughter.
Her return was also hampered by an abdominal injury who forced her to leave the Australian Open, after which the first releases at Indian Wells and Madrid stressed how best she was.
Osaka warmed up for Rome by winning a minor event in Saint Malo in France earlier this month.
But she failed to exceed the last 16 higher tournaments than the WTA 125 series since the loss of the Auckland final in January.
Later, Jannik Sinner continues his candidacy for a first title of Rome against the lucky loser Jesper de Jong who will come up against not only at the world number one but also to a partisan crowd.
No Italian has won the title of Rome since Adriano Panatta in 1976, and Monday’s match will be considered another warm-up while the sinner tries to find a high level form before the French Open which begins later this month.
The compatriots of Sinner Matteo Berrettini and Jasmine Paolini are also in action in the Central Court, before the female seeded Aryna Sabalenka took Marta Kostyuk.
