Napoli Give Inter Milan Scudetto Hope After Being Held By Genoa

Napoli’s offer for a second series of Serie A in three seasons was affected by the 2-2 draw at home on Sunday with Genoa, which allowed Inter Milan to go to a point of the leaders of the League thanks to their 2-0 2-0 victory in Torino. The fate of Antonio Conte’s team is still in their hands with two remaining games in the season, and two victories against Parma and Cagliari will provide the Scudetto. But the Inter will have the hope of keeping his league crown after the battered head of Johan Vasquez gave Genoa a deserved draw in a crowded Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
Giacomo Raspadori thought he had won the match and almost obtained the title of Napoli in the 64th minute after a wonderful competence to control the pass of Scott MCTOMINAY.
MCTOMINAY also set up the opening of the 15th minute of Romelu LUKAKU which was canceled in the 32nd minute when the goalkeeper of Napoli Alex Meret inadvertently diverted the head of honest Ahanor in his own goal.
The cheers will have sounded around half blue and black from Milan when Vasquez propelled the late level of Genoa level at home, after Nicola Zalewski and Kristjan Asllani gave the Inter their second victory outside in eight series of series A under torrential rains.
“It is not ours, so everything we can do is do our job. This is what happened today,” said Inter Simone Inzaghi coach.
“Now we have a few days of rest after the tour de force that the boys had recently.”
Inter could have done without drama after their victory in the semi-finals of the Champions League Epic against Barcelona on Tuesday, but the match was barely underway when it was arrested while the aid was rushed to a Torino supporter who had fallen from a stand.
An attrition match that has started with nine changes compared to their triumph in the middle of the week went in favor of the team outside in the 14th minute when Zalewski turned and covered his first goal for the champions.
The match was arrested a minute of half-time while the rain became a biblical downpour that left the field to an unplayable Turin.
Even if the first half was completed after a short break, the two teams then stayed in the locker room for more than half an hour while the rain continued to pour.
Once back, Asllani almost immediately doubled Inter’s advance with his second penalty in as many weeks, after Mehdi Taremi was brought back by Torino Vanja Milinkovic-Savic goalkeeper.
This goal was sufficient for the Inter claiming the points and the hand of the table mid-table of Torino a first defeat at home in 2025.
Earlier, Verona progressed to the security of relegation with a 1-1 draw with her colleagues LECCE wrestlers who moved the team of Paolo Zanetti to five points above the fall zone.
