Barcelona, Unbeaten In 2025, Aim For ‘Game-By-Game’ Approach Amid Battling For Three Titles

The Barcelona midfielder Gavi admitted Tuesday that Catalan giants could be beaten despite not having suffered a single defeat in 2025. The leaders of the Spanish League did not lose in the last 22 games of all competitions and welcomed Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday in a quarter of the Champions League. For the first time in years, Barcelona has been among the favorites to raise the trophy, which they claimed for the last time in 2015, and are in the fight for a quadruple potential. “We have a spectacular season but we do not feel invincible, it’s football, you can’t always win,” Gavi said at a press conference.

“We have to play with humility with each match and remember where we come from is the important thing, to keep our feet on the ground and go game per game.

“There are still a lot of games to do and we want to win as many titles as possible (but), we have to go game per game.”

Barça coach Hansi Flick switched between Gavi, Fermin Lopez and Dani Olmo, currently injured in his attacker midfielder.

International Spain Gavi, 20, is known for his work rate and fierce attitude, and the midfielder has been unleashed against criticisms who doubt his quality on the ball.

“It is true that people say that I don’t know how to play football, but they have no idea,” said Gavi.

“It’s the truth, I can understand it, it’s football, everyone can think what they want and it’s good.”

Gavi returned from an injury in October after missing almost a year with a serious knee injury.

The midfielder said he had a good season in this context, even if he had not been a key player for Flick.

“It is true that I do not have a role as important as in other seasons, but it is normal after my return from a long injury,” added Gavi.

“I am very satisfied with the recovery I had, and if you told me that I would have this season when I returned from injury, I would have taken that.”

Flick said his team had to work hard to progress against Dortmund.

“I have always said that we are allowed to dream, but here we have to keep two feet on the ground,” said the coach.

“It is important that we know that what we have achieved (so far) has been a lot of hard work and a lot of preparation.

“We do not want it to be the end, we will see if tomorrow we can give ourselves as we have it in these last games.

“We have not yet lost a match this year – we want to keep it like this.”
