On Sunday, Robert Lewandowski of Barcelona was diagnosed with an injury to the hamstrings and should miss the final of the Copa del Rey and the semi-final of the Champions League according to the Spanish media. The 36-year-old Polish striker, the top scorer in Barcelona with 40 goals in all competitions, took place in the Liga 4-3 victory on his team on Celta Vigo on Saturday. “The tests carried out on Sunday confirmed that the player of the first team Robert Lewandowski had a semitininosus injury in his left thigh,” Barcelona said in a statement, without specifying how long he would be sidelined.
The Spanish media reported that Lewandowski could be released for three weeks, which means that it would not be available next Saturday while Barcelona against Real Madrid in the Copa final in Seville.
The leaders of Liga also welcome Inter Milan on April 30 in the semi-finals of the Champions League and visit the Italians on May 6.
Lewandowski is expected to miss championship matches against Mallorca on Tuesday and Valladolid on May 3, with a potential return against Real Madrid on May 11, a match that could decide the title race.
Barcelona, who won the Spanish Super Cup in January, continues a quadruple potential and is in the semi-final of the Champions League for the first time since 2019.
