The rhythm of the Indians of Mumbai, Trent Boult, supported the “Rohit Sharma of the world class” to play a central role in the pursuit of the team for a sixth IPL title with record extent, after consecutive half-centurys which reported its return. The Kiwi left arm stimulator played a decisive role in the dismantling of the famous Sunrisers Hyderabad command, returning with a 4/26 winning spell to the fourth consecutive victory of CAP Mi in the categorical style. After SRH collapsed at 143/8, Mi, fed by Rohit, commander of 46-ball 70, chased the target in just 15.4 Overs.
The categorical victory has not only increased their net execution rate, but also propelled them in third place in the point table.
“I think that all on the side, the whole team of Mumbai Indians has world class players and, obviously, Rohit does not need an introduction in this regard,” said Boult during the interaction of the post-match media.
“I’m sure everyone wants to contribute at certain times, but Rohit has been doing a fantastic job lately and plays very well at the right time. He will therefore play a huge role for us in the remaining part of the season. I think you just need to be prepared for any role,” he added.
Boult also congratulated Captain Hardik Pandya for his leadership style, calling him a refreshing experience.
“Hardik is a passionate cricket player, obviously very skilful. He is a big leader, I think. He leads before.
“He is an excellent communicator. He is one of my favorite Indian cricket players, so having the chance to play under him is a great experience.” Boult, who was transparently adjusted in a new role after spending Royals from Rajasthan in Mi, stressed the importance of adaptability in a long tournament like IPL.
“At Rajasthan, I was ready to play any stadium in the match. I had the chance to play 10 IPL seasons where it was not always the same recipe every time. So I think the first thing is that you should always want the ball.
“There are great players in there. Obviously, (Jasprit) Bumrah does not need an introduction either, so it’s great to have a ball in hand with him.” The Mumbai Indians had only one victory in their first five games, and now there are four of them on the trot, keeping them firmly placed for a place in the playoffs. But Boult does not seem too far forward.
“The momentum was not on our side to start, but to run for four consecutive victories, it was the focus, just to get a little momentum, a little rhythm. The guys playing nice cricket at certain times. We are not going to look too far.
“It can quickly change. I can’t wait to go home, to play under certain conditions that we know quite well, but there is a long way to go in this tournament,” he added.
