The actor of Bollywood Ayushmann Khurrana was invited to join the Academy of Arts and Cinema Sciences (AMPAS), the organization behind the Oscars. Known for his choices of socially relevant and unconventional films, Khurrana’s work has always focused on the breakdown of cinematographic and societal stereotypes.

The Academy has invited a diversified group of artists and industry professionals around the world this year, recognizing their important contributions to the cinema. Khurrana joins an international list of guests, including Gillian Anderson, Ariana Grande, Kamal Haasan, Mikey Madison, Jeremy Strong and Kieran Culkin.
In a joint declaration, the CEO of the Academy, Bill Kramer, and the president of the Academy, Janet Yang, said: “We are delighted to invite this estimated class of artists, technologists and professionals to join the Academy. Thanks to their commitment to cinema and to the largest film industry, these exceptionally talented individuals have made unrealible contributions to our global cinema community. ”
Throughout her career, Khurrana has participated in films that explore subjects such as gender identity, body image, discrimination of castes and unconventional relationships, often arousing social conversations through consumer cinema. His projects have been widely discussed to solve problems that are often underrepresented in popular Indian films.
Khurrana’s work has also drawn world attention. He was recognized by Time magazine twice – first, in his Time100 list of the most influential people in the world, and later, with the Time100 Impact Award in 2023.
In addition to his acting career, Ayushmann is UNICEF’s national ambassador, focusing on the rights and protection of the child. His invitation to join the Academy is considered another stage of its growing international presence, aligning it with artists who have influenced the world cinema industry.
Currently, the actor is preparing for one of the largest and most expected versions of Thama this Diwali, putting him alongside Rashmika Mandanna for the first time. The supernatural horror comedy is an essential part of the world of Maddock which compromises films like Stroke And Bhediya.
