Actress Sangeeta Bijlani has formally applied for a firearms license following a burglary at her farm near Pavana, citing growing concerns over security and the slow pace of the police investigation.

Bijlani recently met Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Sandip Singh Gill to inquire about updates in the theft case. She revealed that despite about three and a half months since the incident, no significant progress has been made.
Reflecting on the incident, she said: “I have lived there for 20 years. Pavana is a home for me, and it has been three and a half months since the horrible theft incident on my farm, but there is still no progress.”
She added that SP Gill assured her that the police would “get to the bottom of the matter and arrest the culprits”.
According to the complaint, in July, unidentified intruders broke into his property and vandalized household items such as the refrigerator, televisions and furniture. They also drew obscene graffiti on the walls and fled with Rs. 400,000. 50,000 in cash and a television valued at Rs. 7,000.
Describing the event as deeply disturbing, Bijlani said: “There was a theft and a break-in. It was scary. Luckily I wasn’t there. There were obscene things and graffiti written on the wall inside the house.”
She stressed that the burglary had shaken not only herself, but also the wider community of Pavana. “There are several residents in Pavana, including elderly people and families. Safety is important. Lately, because of these incidents, residents of Pavana neighborhood do not feel safe.”
Explaining her decision to apply for a gun permit, Bijlani said, “Following this incident, I applied for a gun permit from the Pune rural police. As a woman, if I go home alone, I feel that some sort of protection must be there. I have never felt the need to have a gun permit, but this is the first time I have not felt safe. I need a gun on fire, and this is the first time that I feel unsafe and a little scared.
She expressed hope that authorities will take stricter measures and speed up the investigation, thereby restoring the confidence of residents in the region.
As the case develops, local police and Bijlani’s team will likely push for a quicker resolution, while the actress awaits the decision on her gun application.
