EXCLUSIVE: Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat is FIRST Diwali release in 22 years to get ‘A’ rating; CBFC replaces ‘Raavan’ with ‘villain’, ‘maal’ with ‘ladki’ : Bollywood News

Diwali usually brings family entertainers, but Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat takes a bold turn. The film was certified “A”. With recent hits aimed at adults like Animal (2023), Coolie (2025) etc., proving that an “A” doesn’t stop box office success, this intense love story is ready to take center stage amidst the festive fireworks.

Despite the ‘A’ rating, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has requested six changes from the makers of the romantic saga. He was asked to modify a plan of 2 minutes 12 seconds. Plan details are not specified in the cut list. A one-second visual from Mantralaya was asked to be removed.
Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat also suffered audio cuts. Asked to remove the “sleep with her” dialogue. In two places, “Raavan” was replaced with “villain”. The CBFC review committee has in fact asked the makers to remove all dialogues belonging to the epic Ramayana. Lately, ‘maal’ was replaced by ‘ladki’.
Once these changes are made, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat was obtained with an “A” certificate on October 16. The duration of the film, as mentioned in the censor certificate, is 140.17 minutes. In other words, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat lasts 2 hours 20 minutes and 17 minutes. Directed by Milap Zaveri, it stars Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa.
Interestingly, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat is the first Diwali release in 22 long years to be rated A. The last time this happened was on Diwali 2003. That year, four films were released during the festival week – the period drama PinjarGovinda’s comic hug Raja BhaiyaTanishaa Mukherji’s horror film Sssshhh and Vikram Bhatt’s thriller Intéha. The last two obtained an “A” rating from the CBFC.
A year earlier, in 2002, Annarthstarring Sanjay Dutt, Sunil Shetty, Vinod Kambli and others, was given an adults-only rating. In 2001, Kamal Haasan’s ambitious venture Aalavandhanwhich was published in Hindi under the title Abhaywas also intended only for adults. In 1999, the A rating Schoolstarring Manoj Bajpayee and Raveena Tandon with a special appearance by Shilpa Shetty, was a Diwali release and it clashed with Hum Saath Saath Hain.
