Aqib Javed Appointed As Director of High-Performance Of Pakistan’s White-Ball Team




Former Director of Cricket Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Mike Hesson, was announced as the head coach of Pakistan and Aqib Javed, who held the post on a temporary basis, was appointed director of high performance on Tuesday. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has published a declaration to confirm the appointment of Hesson. He said: “Hesson arrives to complete the position after the evaluation of many requests received against vacancy, which fell vacant after the tour of the Pakistani male team in New Zealand in April.”

Hesson is currently head coach of Islamabad United, the defending champions of the Pakistani Super League. The 50 -year -old replaced Aqib, who held the post for five months on an temporary basis after Gary Kirsten only left six months after his visit.

“I am pleased to announce the appointment of the former New Zealand cricket player and renowned coach Mike Hesson as a white-white team of the Pakistani male team,” said PCB president Mohsin Naqvi, in the statement.

“Mike brings with him a wealth of international experience and a proven history of the development of competitive sides. We are impatiently awaiting his expertise and leadership to shape the future of the white ball cricket of Pakistan. Welcome to the team, Mike!” He concluded.

Hesson was appointed Neo-Zealand head coach in 2012 and experienced six successful years. With Hesson at the helm, the Kiwis emerged as a dominant force and storm their first final of the World Cup in 2015, which they lost against Australia.

Before Hesson’s appointment, Pakistan was successful in the patches under Aqib. They exceeded the “Bazball” of England and won a victory for the 2-1 home test series. They shot in Australia and sealed a historic triumph of the ODI 2-1 series, but everything collapsed during the previous months.
