In a revolutionary decision for world cinema, Aamir Khan Sitaare Zameen by has become the first film in the world to present all the main characteristics of accessibility – legends, audio description and Indian sign language, IT that the public with visual, auditory or speech disabilities can take advantage of the film with dignity and independence.

Released on June 20, the film marks a historic moment not only for Indian cinema, but for the world film industry as a whole. While several international films have offered individual accessibility tools in the past, Sitaare Zameen by is the first to integrate the three features simultaneously for a theatrical version. The inclusion of Indian sign language has been made possible via the XL Cinema application, which allows users to access an ISL interpreter in real time on their mobile devices. By synchronizing with the audio of the film in theaters, the application provides a gentle and immersive experience for deaf and hard of hearing viewers.

The closed legends provide a dialogue on the screen and solid descriptions, allowing people with hearing impairments to follow both the history and the audio clues of the story. The audio description function adds a voice -over which tells of visual elements, such as expressions, movements and parameters, thus making the film accessible to those which are blind or which have a low vision.

Aamir Khan Productions, in collaboration with the disability defenders and the XL Cinema team, took a daring step in the establishment of new industry standards for inclusive entertainment. The effort is praised as a model for filmmakers from around the world to adopt default accessibility rather than an exception.

Directed by RS Prasanna, Sitaare Zameen by Also put Genelia Deshmukh featured in a pivotal role with 10 specially disabled young people, including Ashish Pendse, Simran Mangeshkar, Aayush Bhansali, Naman Misra, Gopikrishnan K Verma, Rishi Shahani, Aroush Datta, Rishabh Jain, Samvit Desai and crazy Sharma.
