A group of teachers, who lost their jobs after a recent Verdict from the Supreme Court on the WBSSC recruitment scam, went to the house of Surav Ganguly Thursday to invite him to a march to the secretariat of the Western Bengal State. However, according to an ABP Ananda report, the former Skipper of the Indian Cricket team refused its invitation. The teachers went to the Ganguly residence in Kolkata to invite him for the march that will take place on April 21, but according to the report, Ganguly replied – “Please do not get me in politics”.
Stressing that students must not suffer, the Supreme Court said today that western Bengal teachers whose appointments were canceled earlier this month due to recruitment irregularities can continue to teach until the new selection process is completed. This relief, however, only concerns “intact” teachers – those whose names were not linked to any irregularity during the 2016 nominations survey. In addition, the relief concerns teachers of classes 9, 10, 11 and 12.
However, the Supreme Court has established a deadline for the Bengal School Services Commission (SSC). The chief judge of India Sanjiv Khanna said that the SSC must publish advertisements for the new recruitment collection by May 31 and that the selection process must conclude by December 31.
“We are inclined to accept the prayer made in the request to the extent that it concerns assistant teachers of classes 9 and 10 and classes 11 and 12. Subject to the following conditions according to which the announcement for the fresh recruitment will be released by May 31 and the examination, including the whole process, will be carried out by December 31.”
“The government of the State and the Commission will deposit an affidavit no later than May 31, by locking the copy of the announcement as well as the calendar in order to guarantee the completion of the recruitment process by December 31. If the announcement is not published in accordance with the appropriate orders, including the taxation of costs,” said the chief judge.
