Two Domestic Cricket Tournaments In Pakistan Postponed Amid Ongoing Tensions With India

The Regional Cup of Intra-District Défi and the U19 Inter-District Tournament was postponed with immediate effect due to the dominant security conditions in the country, according to a PCB press release. The tournaments will resume the same stage later, and a revised schedule will be shared closer to the recovery. PCB announced Friday evening that the 10th edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) had been postponed, citing “the worsening of the situation” on the Indian-Pakistani border.
“The last 24 hours have seen an aggravation of the location on the loc. The decision to report was made in accordance with the advice received by Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif,” PCB said in a statement.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) was also suspended for a week due to the climbing of tensions between India and Pakistan. The Cricket Control Council in India (BCCI) said that the new tournament calendar will be announced in due time after consultations with the government and the stakeholders.
“The CICCUKER Control Council in India (BCCI) has decided to suspend the rest of the IPL 2025 in progress with immediate effect for a week. Other updates concerning the new calendar and the tournament places will be announced in due course after a complete assessment of the situation in consultation with the authorities and relevant actors,” said SECAJIT Saikia de la BCCI in the declaration.
Tensions have increased between Pakistan and India after Pakistan caused a series of actions against India which were effectively reacted by the Indian armed forces.
On Saturday in New Delhi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vikram Misri, stressed that the actions undertaken by Pakistan against India are considered to be “climbed” and “provocative” of nature. He made these remarks during a press briefing, where evidence of the climbing and provocation actions of Pakistan were provided next to exhibiting the lies peddled by Pakistan.
