Sunil Chhetri In Coach Manolo Marquez’s 28-Member Probables List For Kolkata Camp

Indian football coach Manolo Marquez has rested confidence in the capacities of veteran attacker Sunil Chhetri, including him in the probable team of 28 members for the final AFC Asian Cup of the AFC Cup next month. Chhetri, 40, was forced to get out of his retirement in March to direct an India in difficulty, overthrowing his decision to hang up the boots last year after more than two decades of magic to advance. He has since managed the national team in a friend against the Maldives and also played during the qualifications of the AFC 2027 Asian Cup against Bangladesh.
“The probables will meet in Kolkata on May 18, to train for the International FIFA window in June,” a statement from the India Football Federation (AIFF) said on Wednesday.
India is placed in group C of the AFC Asian Cup 2027 final round realifying as well as the Bangladesh, the China of Hong Kong and Singapore, the matches being played in a home format at home.
India will open its campaign against Hong Kong on June 10 at Kai Tak Sports Park, in Kowloon City.
The first two matches of group C, between India and Bangladesh in Shillong, and between Singapore and Hong Kong, in China, in Singapore, ended with dead ends, leaving the four teams with one point each.
“As part of their preparations for the qualifier of the Asian Cup against Hong Kong, the Blue Tigers will have a 10 -day training camp in Kolkata before flying to Bangkok to play an international FIFA friend against Thailand on June 4. The team will go to Hong Kong for their asian cup qualifier.”
