EXCLUSIVE: CBFC reduces kissing scene in Thamma by 5 seconds; replaces ‘Azaadi doonga’ with ‘Aiyaashi karata hoon’ : Bollywood News
There are three days left for the release of the big Diwali biggie, Thammaand enthusiasm gradually builds. The creators, Maddock Films, completed the censorship process on time and in this article, Bollywood Hungama will focus exclusively on the cuts suffered by the horror comedy.

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has asked for audio cuts at three places and visual alteration as well. The word “Alexandre” was replaced by “Sikandar”. In another dialogue, the word “Ashwathama” was muffled.
In the second half of the film, the words ‘Azaadi doonga’ were replaced by ‘Aiyaashi karata hoon’. The review panel also asked manufacturers to “keep the noise of blood consumption to a minimum.” Finally, a kiss scene in the second half was reduced by 30%, or 5 seconds.
The latest edit may dampen the enthusiasm of moviegoers but on the positive side, this is the shortest intimacy cut requested by the CBFC in recent times. In Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi KumariLiplock visuals have been reduced by 60%. In Saiyaaracreators were instructed to remove and replace 10 seconds of “sensual visuals, intimacy and body exposure.” Finally, in SupermanCBFC removed 33 seconds of Superman’s ‘sensual visual’. This attracted widespread criticism as the studio had to make abrupt cuts to accommodate the CBFC directive.
Return to Thammaafter the changes were made, the censor certificate was given to the makers on October 15. The film received a U/A 16+ rating. The duration of the film, as mentioned in the censor certificate, is 149.59 minutes. In other words, Thamma lasts 2 hours 29 minutes and 59 seconds.
Thamma releases on Tuesday, October 21 and stars Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Paresh Rawal. It is backed by hit producer Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films and directed by Aditya Sarpotdar of Munjya (2024) fame. It is part of the Maddock Horror Comedy universe and therefore belongs to the same world as Street, Bhediya And Munjya.
