Harry Brook, a newly named white ball captain opened on his two -year ban on the Indian Premier League (IPL). Brook was bought by Delhi Capital in the mega auction IPL 2025 for Rs 6.2 crores, but the striker retired from the days of lucrative contract before the start of the tournament in order to be free and fresh to play for England. Consequently, the player was prohibited to enter the auction in the next two seasons.
However, Brook has reaffirmed that he is ready to reduce his participation in franchise tournaments in order to focus more on his international career.
Addressing The Mirror, Brook said: “This is my priority. England is the way for me and the franchise cricket can almost take a step back for little. At the end of the day, I like to play cricket for England more than anything else.
“So, to lose a little money here and there, I would take it any day to play for England. I will not play any franchise cricket in the near future and I will give priority to England and all the games we have with them.”
However, Brook revealed that the BCCI had not officially communicated their decision to him.
“They didn’t tell me,” he shrugged. “But if I am banned, fair play. It is the rules they have set up, but I am completely determined to play cricket for England,” he added.
Brook was announced as the successor of former skipper Jos Buttler, the 26 -year -old given the task of relaunching England’s fortune in one -day international exhibitions and Twenty20 after dull exhibitions at recent world events.
Brook, however, is also a pillar of the range of strikers from England in red ball cricket.
England has 11 tests by the end of the ashes in early January and Brook may also have to appear in 12 ODI and 15 T20 to prepare for the T20 World Cup of next year, which should start in February.
