Aishwarya Rai Bachchan filed a petition before the High Court of Delhi to protect his advertising and his personality rights, opposing the unauthorized use of his name, images and identity on different platforms and products. The advocacy highlights the problems of abusive commercial use, misleading representations and online circulation of obscene modified images.

Justice Tejas Karia heard the question, recognizing the severity of allegations and indicating a desire to issue injunctions to stop abusive use. The case is scheduled for its next hearing on January 15, 2026.
Representative Rai, the main lawyer Sandeep Sethi informed the court that his identity was widely exploited for commercial gain and misleading advertising. He highlighted the websites wrongly pretending to be official platforms and referenced unauthorized goods such as cups, t-shirts and a drink with his name and image.
Sethi cited an example of abusive use involving a company named Aishwarya Nation Wealth, who had falsely declared Rai as president in the official archives. He said the actor had no association with the company and characterized the fraudulent and illegal act.
Sethi also expressed his concerns about the online propagation of the actor’s modified images, noting that obscene, transformed and generated visuals of RAI AI. He described this as a serious violation of his dignity and his rights, stressing that “his resemblance is exploited for sexually explicit purposes” and stressing the deeply disturbing nature of such content.
Appearing for Google, lawyer Mamta Rani said that the content could only be deleted during specific URL submission. Judge Karia noted that although a consolidated order is preferable, the generations of the petitioner may require separate injunctions against each defendant. The court also specified that the applicant could either provide individual URLs for disassembly, or request relief in the context of blocking and screening instructions (BSI).
