Sanjay Leela Bhansali to recreate Italy in Mumbai for Love & War after international schedule gets cancelled: Report : Bollywood News
Among the many upcoming multi-starrers, that of Sanjay Leela Bhansali Love and war– starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal – is generating constant buzz. While fans are eagerly awaiting its release, the film is still in full production. According to recent reports, Bhansali has decided to recreate a slice of Italy in Mumbai after the planned international shoot was canceled.

Originally, Bhansali had planned a 45-day shoot in Italy for Love and war. However, the project was abandoned due to logistical problems. Instead, portions intended to be shot in Italy were recreated on a lavish set near Royal Palms in Goregaon. A report of Noon quoted a source as saying, “The Italian schedule was proving to be logistically complex and would have taken much longer to execute. Bhansali wanted to maintain the opulence while keeping firm control over the set. So he decided to recreate the portions on a set in Mumbai. He conducted a 10-day stint with his lead actors before Diwali.”
The source further added, “This step is crucial as the leads will be filming parts of the climax. After Alia’s photos from the shoot were leaked a few days ago, the director made it clear that he does not want his actors’ looks or details to be released online. The production team will now share location details with the unit only as the shoot nears.”
Bhansali reportedly plans to finish filming by mid-December, with Love and war scheduled for release in March 2026. The unit is currently on a short break and will soon resume its final 20-day schedule, which includes filming the film’s climax.
Previous reports suggested that Love and war could conflict with Yash’s Toxic on March 19, 2026, coinciding with the weekend of Ugadi, Gudi Padwa and Eid. However, the makers are yet to confirm the release date. Interestingly, Orry is said to have a role in the film, while Deepika Padukone will make a cameo appearance.
