Virat Kohli’s U-19 Coach Reveals How Star Batter Got Better With Every Passing Game

Virat Kohli had nothing to boast of his return of a forgetable tour in England in 2014 with his pride lowered by James Anderson. Desperate to assert himself on the big stage, Kohli composed his coach under 19 years old Lalchand Rajput. Sachin Tendulkar had also offered some advice, but a two -week training camp in Mumbai with Rajput was the real turning point in Kohli’s career. Kohli’s despair was justified because the figures – 134 flow from 5 tests to 13 and 54 run from 4 ODI to 18 years – reflected its difficulties in English conditions adapted to seams.

“I had known him from the under 19s and we had good relations because I could understand it. I had spent a lot of time with him – from 2006 to 2007 with India U19. So it was good to receive a call from him after this tour in England in 2014, where he never had a good series,” Rajput told Pti since the pays.

So what were the areas where he worked at the Kohli striker? “We had a two -week camp in Mumbai.

“His head fell a little and his leg play was a little undecided. So we worked a little in these areas. He has always been receptive and adaptive as a striker, and he did it here too because he quickly made changes before going to Australia,” said Rajput.

These two weeks of rigors did not fail in Kohli while Delhi’s man firmly imposed himself as a Prime Minister’s striker during the tour in Australia from November 2014.

Kohli hammered tons of Adelaide twin, followed by masterful hundreds in Melbourne and Sydney, approving 692 takes place from four tests with an average of 86.50 with four centuries.

It started the Kohli climb to peaks rarely affected by any other striker in his time, making 5,347 points of 55 games at an average of 63.65 with 21 hundred.

Rajput was not completely surprised either.

“He just believes in excellence. He doesn’t want to be number 2, he always wants to be number 1. It’s his hunger and his pride for what he is playing,” he said.

However, India’s former striker was a little surprised by the sudden departure of Kohli compared to the test cricket, a format to which he gave his heart and his efforts.

“I would always say that he is so fit, he could have played a few more seasons. He is so fit and passionate that I think he has a lot of cricket.

“We would like to see him, but again, it is his personal decision and he must have thought a lot before we make it and we must respect it,” he added.

Now that Kohli has retired from the Cricket test, Rajput believes that the Cricket community will miss its supercharged presence.

“He really liked test cricket and he always recommended it. He always believed that test cricket should be taken very seriously and he showed it by the way he used to cricket. I think the test cricket was very lively because of him.

“I do not know what the future has in store for us, but certainly the cricket test will miss. The community of cricket as a whole will miss,” he noted.

Rajput said that the next generation players would find it difficult, at least at the start, to replace the titans like Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who had also taken off tests a few days ago.

“These shoes will be difficult to fill, and there will be a lot of pressure on them. But as India has a lot of players, I am sure that someone will raise their hands. England will be a difficult tour without these two, but we have done well in the past.

“So there will be someone who can raise their hands and say, yes, I am here in this tour and seize this opportunity with both hands,” he explained.

Who should lead India during the five game tour in England since Rohit canceled the role of leadership? “I know everyone is talking about Shubman Gill. We think he is the future captain. But I still think that Jasprit Bumrah should be the captain because each time Rohit was not there, he intervened as a captain, and he had done well in this test in Perth (vs Australia),” he said.

However, Rajput said selectors will think about the physical form of Bumrah because he had to withdraw from the Sydney test against Australians with a bomb.

“His fitness … I think they will speak if it will be available for the whole tour or even the season or not. This is the main point. So, I think these two are the only options at the moment for us,” he added.
