The former team of the Indian cricket team Virender Sehwag blamed the star of the Super Kings of Chennai Dewald Brevis for his controversial dismissal during the IPL 2025 meeting against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Brevis received LBW from Lungi Ngidi’s bowling alley, but the international of South Africa was not convinced of the decision. Brevis had a conversation with Ravindra Jadeja and when he examined, the 15 seconds allocated were exhausted and the arbitrators on the ground informed him of the circumstances. This led to a massive row with Jadeja having an arbitrator.
However, Sehwag was of the opinion that it was not the referee’s fault and stressed that if the striker was not convinced, he should have gone for the exam earlier to avoid confusion.
“Only Brevis can tell us why he did not take criticism in time. Why was it so late? This is the fault of Brevis, not the referees. The timer is shown on the big screen. He ran for a simple and then he went for the second. Do you not know that the referee gave you?” Sehwag said on Cricbuzz.
“Okay, I understand that it was a bad decision. It was a mistake, it lacked the stump. The DRS are there to get rid of the howlers. As soon as the referee gave his decision, the 15-second stopwatch started on the ground. It’s good, we couldn’t see this on the screen. Why did he take a long time?” He added.
