“Will Be Even Better In A Year”: Rahul Dravid Praises Rajasthan Royals’ Young Indian Batters

Head coach Rahul Dravid hopes that young Indian players in the ranks of the Royals of Rajasthan will soon have the opportunity to play the “hard international cricket”, which in turn will help them come back stronger for the next IPL season. The Royals crashed into their fifth successive defeat when they fell against Punjab Kings by 10 points here on Sunday. “We have seen capacities. Even today, the striker that Jaiswal has made, Vaibhav made, Dhruv Jurel did. There are a lot of Sanju, Riyan today. We have a lot of young Indian drummers.
Dravid then expanded his reflections on how young names in the ranks of the Royals can better perform a year.
“Vaibhav (Suryavanshi) will play a lot of crickets like U19 India. Riyan Parag will also play a lot of cricket. So I think all these players will play a lot of cricket for India throughout the year – hard cricket, international cricket.
“So, I hope that when they come back here next year, they will be more experienced. They are already very talented players,” he added.
Dravid estimated that Rajasthan’s quisors and strikers had not been able to apply the final touch to work, leading to the lamentable team of the team this season.
In the last case, RR reached 76/1 in just 4.5 overtime in the pursuit of 220, but lost the match by 10 points against Punjab Kings.
“We got closer, but we could not finish the work. This is one of those seasons where you always feel with the ball that probably gives 15-20 additional points, and after reaching good positions (with the bat) … With this lower average order, we simply could not click and get the big blows we need,” said Dravid.
The Punjab team was in shock at 159 for five in the 16th, but they collected 60 points in the last four Overs to reach 219/5 at the Sawai Man Singh stadium.
“It’s now five games where the margins were 10 points, a matching match, 1 round, 2 points, 10 points. So, it’s really one or two sure that you need in this phase that we just couldn’t do.” Dravid said that quisors also have an equal share of blame for the disappointing show of the team.
“There is no point in blaming the drummers. I think that with the ball too, to be honest, this counter that I did not think it was 220. It was around 195-200 wicket and we gave 20 additional points.
“If we look at the statistics, we have not taken any counters or to control the races despite good starts. So, for the next season, we have to work on it,” he added.
