The sudden decision of the opener of India Yashasvi Jaiswal to go from Mumbai to Goa made the headlines on Wednesday. Jaiswal wrote Tuesday at the Mumbai Cricket Association, expressing his wish to leave Mumbai for Goa, and the Director Body quickly accepted his request. Jaiswal’s shock decision will see the 23-year-old on the left for Goa from the 2025-26 season where he could be appointed captain, although it remains to understand how long he would be able to give to the side of the state given the crowded international calendar.

In an interview, Jaiswal revealed that he moves to Goa due to new opportunities. “It was a very difficult decision for me. Whatever I am today, it is because of Mumbai. The city made me who I am, and all my life, I will be indebted to MCA,” Jaiswal told the Indian Express. “Goa gave me a new opportunity and it offered me a leadership role. My first goal will be to do well for India and whenever I am in national service, I will play for Goa and I will try to make them go deep in the tournament. It was an (important) opportunity that came to me and I took it.”

However, a report in India today, made some interesting claims concerning the likely reason for Jaiswal’s departure. A report in the publication said that “people close to the situation” said that the young left -hander was not satisfied with the “constant control” in the configuration of Mumbai.

The report continued by claiming that the relationship between Jaiswal and Ajinkya Rahane (Mumbai first -class captain) was “untenable”. He said the “friction” between the two players of the Indian cricket team started in 2022 when Rahane had sent Jaiswal for the sleigh in a match. Jaiswal had struck a double century – 265 out of 323 balls with 30 four and four in the second round of the match, but on the last day of the confrontation, the skipper of the west area sent him ground for the excessively sledding of the southern zone Ravi Teja.

The report also indicates that there was a “constant interrogation” on the selection of jaiswal shots. The “final straw” was when Jaiswal was criticized by the management of the Mumbai team after a bad outing in a match of Mumbai vs Jammu and the cashmere. Mumbai coach, Omkar Salvi and Rahane, apparently questioned Jaiswal’s commitment. The report said that “people close to the situation” said that an angry Jaiswal had even kicked Captain Rahane’s Kitbag.

A PTI report also indicated the same thing by mentioning Jaiswal’s Rift with a “senior player”. “It is also believed that Jaiswal’s decision to move to Goa could be due to its dissatisfaction with the management of the Mumbai team,” said the report of the news agency.

“In the competition against J&K last season, sources said that Jaiswal had a fault with a senior member of the team in the second rounds after the latter questioned his selection of shooting while Mumbai was fighting to save the game. In response, Jaiswal questioned the senior interrogative his shooting in the first round.”
