Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) plans to have a conference with players, coaches, national selectors and mentors during or after Pakistan Super League (PSL) to “solve certain internal problems” in the national team. A source said Thursday that the president of the PCB, Mohin Naqvi, was not satisfied with the way the questions related to the team had been managed so far by all the stakeholders. “There has been an appropriate lack of communication between team captains, coaches and selectors in recent months, which has led senior players, notably Odi and the test captains, Mohammad Rizwan, Shan Masood are not satisfied with the decisions taken by going beyond their point of view in the selection and other team issues,” said the source.

He said Rizwan had sent a message to the president to meet the players and discuss the problems.

Apparently Rizwan has been rejected by the temporary coach, Aaqib Javed, and the selectors a few times in the selection and team strategy in recent times.

“The president of the PCB will probably call a meeting with senior players, selectors, coaches, managers of the board of directors concerned and mentors to openly discuss the problems of the team,” added the source.

A similar exercise took place last September by the PCB in which some senior players openly questioned the performances of certain officials of the board of directors and expressed their concerns concerning the NOC policy for foreign leagues.

The PCB must also appeal to the staff of coaches of the national team during or after the end of the PSL next month before Pakistan begins its new season at international home with a series against Bangladesh at home.

The PCB must decide to make AAQIB the permanent head coach in all formats or to appoint new coaches.
