Australia Announces New Stadium For 2032 Olympic Games

Australia will built a 63,000 -seat stadium and an interior plush swimming place for the 2032 Olympic Games in Brisbane, officials announced on Tuesday after putting controversial previous plans. The Prime Minister of Queensland, David Crisafulli, detailed a multitude of Olympic upgrades which included the new Brisbane stadium in the heart of the city, and an aquatic center that could accommodate 25,000 fans. “Finally, Queensland has a plan. The time has come to continue. And to continue, we will do so,” Crisafulli told journalists.
The capital of Queensland received the summer Olympic Games and the paralympic games of 2032 in July 2021, returning the matches to Australia for the third time after Melbourne 1956 then Sydney 2000.
Two years ago, the state’s labor government announced its intention to extend the famous Gabba cricket field and create a new interior stadium of 17,000 places for the Games.
Crisafulli abandoned these plans on Tuesday, saying that Australia would have wasted “billion” on temporary installations which “delivered any inheritance”.
The 63,000 -seat stadium was presented as a “world class” place which would also host other major sporting events in the future.
Temporary seats would increase the capacity of a new national aquatic center to 25,000, said the government of the State, welcoming swimming, diving, water polo and other sports.
The village of the main athletes would be built near the existing Brisbane Showgrounds, while two small villages would be located on the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast.
Officials also announced a series of upgrades in smaller places such as Queensland Tennis Center and Gold Coast Hockey Center.
Although official costs are not yet published, Australia has previously reserved about $ 4 billion for the game infrastructure.
