Lord Curzon Ki Haveli gets ‘A’ certificate: Director Anshuman Jha REACTS; says, “It needs to be standardised” : Bollywood News
Anshuman Jha had the projection of censorship for his beginnings as a director on January 3, 2025. After a prolonged commitment of four months + with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), the highly anticipated beginnings of achievement of the actor and filmmaker Anshuman Jha Jha (CBFC) Lord Curzon Ki Haveli was officially authorized with a certificate of censur. The CBFC granted the film a certification “A” (adults only) with three compulsory changes. The biggest being that a female character cannot use a word of curse on screen with a female prefix. JHA had to chew / delete these portions even if it is a “A” certification. The other major statement was the language of the film, because it is 50% in Hindi and 50% in English. Something that the actor-filmo manufacturer is not particularly happy.

A black comedy thriller that drew global attention in the past year, Lord Curzon Ki Haveli was a success in small groups on the circuit of the International Festival. It was the only Indian selection during the first showcase of the European genre – Razor Reel Flanders 2024 – and earned JHA the honor of the “Best Director” at the UK Asian Film Festival 2024.
Featuring the international candidate for Emmy, Arjun Mathur, alongside the acclaimed actors Rasika Dugal, Paresh Pahuja and Tanmay Dhanania, the film weaves an atmospheric history around the themes of identity and immigration, focused on the experiences of Asians in the United Kingdom.
Notably, Lord Curzon Ki Haveli is the first general Indian functionality to be turned entirely on a single 35 mm goal – “a daring creative choice inspired by JHA’s admiration for Alfred Hitchcock’s cinema”, explains the director of French photography Jean Marc Selva. The result is an elegant tribute to classical cinema which has won critical praise for its narrative craft and visual flair.
The film is written by the award -winning writer Bikas Mishra and produced by Golden Ratio Films, Adya Films UK and First Ray Films. Since his world premiere in Australia, he has taken care of numerous distinctions, notably “Star of Asia” for Rasika Dugal to Csaff Chicago and “Best actor” for Arjun Mathur in Ukaff London.
Speaking about certification, Anshuman Jha commented: “It is a relief that we finally have the certification. The trip was not easy, but we remained attached to the film we wanted to present. Not only was the delay too long, but also to obtain a certification and to cut and be silent scenes.
Acclaimed on a global scale, certified by censorship, finally returning home. Lord Curzon Ki Haveli is extremely expected.
