“Disturbed And Frustrated”: Ex-India Star’s Big ‘Behind The Scenes’ Take On Rishabh Pant

It was a disappointing season for the skipper of Lucknow Super Giant Rishabh Pant. The counter goalkeeper of the Indian cricket team, which was bought for an RS 27 record crossed by LSG in the IPL Mega auction, only scored 128 points in 11 matches at an average of 12.80. With only half a century, the form of a pant left a lot to be desired and that has also led to criticism of fans and experts. The former Indian cricket team, Aakash Chopra, weighed on the lamentable race of Pant and said that he looked extremely disturbed and frustrated in the last two games. He continued by saying that Pant was not the captain who is desired and continued to wonder what is going on “behind the scenes”.
“It is also true that he was extremely animated as a captain in the last match before the IPL suspension. It seemed that he was extremely disturbed and frustrated. He is not the captain you want, the one who looks frustrated on the field. You and I never know what’s going on behind the scenes,” said Chopra on her YouTube channel.
“You shouldn’t know about the captain’s face that he is angry, but anger was visible, which is not a good thing,” he added.
Earlier, Ravi Shastri says that Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant are ideal candidates to the captain of India in the test format, since they are age for their side and already have the experience of directing the IPL teams.
Shastri also believes that Jasprit Bumrah would have been an obvious choice for the role of leadership in the traditional format, but for its fitness problems, the Pacer should be protected from the additional burden.
“Seeing for me, Jasprit would have been the obvious choice after Australia. But I don’t want Jasprit to be made captain, then you lose it as a bowling player,” said Shastri in the last episode of the CPI criticism with Bumrah’s wife, Sanjana Ganesan.
Selectors will have to choose a new test captain after the recent retirement by Rohit Sharma.
The next assignment of India is a series of five games against England, from June 20 in Leeds. Bumrah, 31, had trouble with a back injury suffered in the last match of the Border-Gavaskar trophy in Sydney. He was out of service for almost three months – in early January to April – and missed the victory campaign of the India Champions Trophy.
