The son Heung-Min said he was “the happiest man in the world” after raising the Europa League to end his expectations to win a trophy with Tottenham. The South Korea international, who joined the club 10 years ago, is the fifth highest scorer of spurs of all time but had won no silverware before a 1-0 victory against Manchester United in Bilbao on Wednesday. “Wow, an incredible feeling!” His said to TNT Sports. “Today is the day when the dream has come true. The happiest man in the world to be honest.”
His was the only member of the Spurs team who lost the Champions League final in 2019 to play a role in the last last European years.
After a number of quasi-accidents in the past decade, the 32-year-old said he felt the pressure to deliver.
“I felt the pressure,” he added. “I wanted it so much. Over the past seven days, I dreamed of this game every day. Finally, it happened, I can rest easily.
“Today is the day we can celebrate. Maybe I’m going to miss the flight (at home)!”
Victory also ensures Tottenham’s place in the Champions League next season despite the 17th row of the Premier League after a lamentable national season.
His has a huge follow -up in his homeland and had a special word of thank you to the Korean fans who stayed up all night to watch his success.
“I am very proud to be Korean. I want to see thank you to the Korean fans.
“It was at 4 am (kick -off) and they support me like crazy.”
