The new test skipper of India, Shubman Gill, will have to direct from the front in the absence of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, but the young team should not be tried too early, feels the bowling of Spin Great Harbhajan Singh. The 25 -year -old Gill was appointed on Saturday as a full -time captain of the Indian team with Rishabh Pant as his assistant with the new World World Championship cycle starting with England Tour next month. Harbhajan praised Gill’s choice as captain, but said there were challenges to come.

“Obviously, it’s a big decision, having a young captain like Shubman Gill who did in the franchise cricket,” Harbhajan told PTI at the launch of the television program “Who’s the Boss” on Sunday.

“But it will be a difficult tour, England has never been an easy tour. I hope that Shubman, Rishabh Pant … It’s a young team. There is no Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma, suddenly, there is a big gap in this team and which must also be filled, so Shubman will have to lead before,” he said. Harbhajan said Gill’s team should have time to find their feet and not be tried too early in case they lose the series against England.

“I would also like to ask people not to start judging too early, even if this tour does not happen,” he said.

“It is even if they do not win, they will learn (from it). I am convinced that all those who participate in this tour will improve,” added Harbhajan.
