Om Raut opens up about Kalam: The Missile Man of India; says, “I don’t think there could have been a better choice than Dhanush” : Bollywood News
The filmmaker Om Raut officially unveiled his next director project entitled Kalam: The Missile Man of IndiaA biopic on the life of Dr. Apj Abdul Kalam in Cannes 2025 with Dhanush in the main role. The title was launched at the prestigious Film Festival, where Raut also talked about the inspiration behind the film and the choice to launch the Tamil star.

Speaking of the personal impact, Dr. Kalam had on him, Om Raut said: “The teachings of Dr. Kalam are instilled in each young person.
Raut also described the three fundamental aspects of Kalam’s life that shaped the foundation of the film. “I have always been deeply inspired by Dr. Kalam’s journey. From what I observed, his life was anchored in three key aspects. The first is education – he was a great teacher who gave immense value to learning quality. The second is innovation – in particular native innovation.
Raut revealed that producer Abhishek Agarwal had approached him with the idea, to discover that he was already developing a similar concept. “He stole from Hyderabad to Mumbai, and we discussed it in detail. Finally, the T and Bhushan Kumar series, with which I worked on two previous films, were also set up on board.
In the casting of Dhanush in the role of Dr. Kalam, Raut added: “During the representation of Dr. Apj Abdul Kalam, it is essential to capture not only his achievements, but also his spiritual journey and his teachings. This is the most difficult part of a biopic like this.
The film is written by Saiwyn Quadras, known for his work on Neerja And Maidaanand is produced by Abhishek Agarwal, the producer behind Cashmere files And Spa. Kalam: The Missile Man of India Aims to tell the life of the former president of India – since its beginnings in Rameswaram to become a famous scientist and the main voice of the country in education and innovation.
