In a recent conversation with NDTV, Rajkummar Rao officially confirmed that he would play the role of former Indian captain Surav Ganguly in the long -awaited biopic. “Now that Dada has already said, let me make it official – yes, I play it in his biopic,” said Rao. “I’m nervous … It’s a huge responsibility, but it’s going to be very fun,” he added.
Speculations around the cast had been circulating for some time, names like Ranbir Kapoor and Ayushmann Khurrana also envisaged. However, Ganguly himself seemed to have approved Rao recently, giving a strong indication of the actor’s selection.
Barely a few days ago, in an interaction with PTI, Ganguly had spoken of progress in the film. “It’s okay. It will be released next December. The shooting begins in January. The pre -production, the writing of stories and the scripts take a long time. The shooting does not take much time – it’s about three months – and then the post -production takes time,” said the former cricket player.
The casting of Rajkummar Rao comes out of its recent appearance in Mr. and Mrs. MahiA fictitious sports drama focused on cricket. Currently, he is busy promoting his next film Maalikwhich is planned for the cinema release on July 11.
