The Melbourne Indian Film Festival (IFFM) announced that actor and filmmaker Aamir Khan will attend the 2025 edition as an official chief guest. Now in its 16th year, the festival will feature a special retrospective on Khan’s work, including a projector on its latest film, Sitaare Zameen by.

The career of Aamir Khan, covering more than four decades, includes several notable films such as Taare Zameen by,, Dangerous,, Lagaan,, PkAnd Secret superstar. Its latest version, Sitaare Zameen byfollows the history of a community service assigned to basketball coach, who finds meaning in the mentoring of a team of neurodivergent adults. The film was appreciated for its emotional depth and relatable themes.

IFFM 2025 will honor Khan’s artistic impact with a specially organized selection of films which reflect its daring and socially conscious narration. A highlight of the retrospective will be a projection of Sitaare Zameen byFollowed by a live conversation with Aamir Khan, director RS Prasanna, and Aparna Purohit, CEO of Aamir Khan Films, offering the public a unique preview of the creative process behind the film.

The 16th Melbourne Indian Film Festival takes place from August 14 to 24, 2025, with a dynamic program of projections, panels, masterclasses and cultural events. Aamir Khan’s retrospective will be a highlight of this year’s celebrations.
