Carlos Alcaraz Says ‘Doesn’t Support’ Novak Djokovic-Backed Lawsuit

The Wimbledon champion, Carlos Alcaraz, pushed a trial against the Tour of the ATP filed Wednesday by the Union of Tennis players led by Novak Djokovic, saying that he does not support this decision. The world number three in Spanish, speaking before the Miami Open, said that he had received no advice from the Legal Tennis Players’ Association (PTPA) legal affair or the declaration strongly published on Tuesday. “Honestly, it was surprising for me, because no one told me anything, so I was right, yesterday, I saw on social networks,” said Alcaraz.

The PTPA file quotes a quote from Alcaraz to a press conference in which he criticized the tour of the tour and the player said he was not aware of this decision.

“I saw that there were declarations that I said something I said at the press conference, that I did not know. I do not support this letter, that I do not support that, because, as I said, I did not know,” he added.

Alcaraz said he had mixed opinions on the nature of the complaint which is a large -scale criticism of how sport is led by ATP and WTA tour.

“There are things with which I agree, there are other things with which I do not agree, but the main thing here is that I do not support that, so that’s all,” he said.

The PTPA was created by Djokovic and Vasek Pospisil in Canada in 2020. Twenty players were appointed as part of at least one of the actions.

“Pursuits expose systemic abuses, anti-competitive practices and a blatant contempt for the well-being of players who have persisted for decades,” said the PTPA statement.

“ATP, WTA, ITF and ITIA work as a cartel by implementing a number of draconian and nested anti -competitive constraints.”

The ATP and the WTA, as well as the International Tennis Federation and the Integrity Integrity ITIA organization, have all defended themselves against the complaint and rejected the accusations.
