The romantic comedy Abir Gulaal, with the Pakistani actor Fawad Khan and the Indian actress Vaani Kapoor, found herself in the center of a geopolitical storm. Originally scheduled for the release on May 9, 2025, the beginnings of the film were postponed indefinitely following the tragic terrorist attack of Pahalgam in the south of the cashmere, which cost the life of 26 civilians.

Directed by Aarti S. Bagdi and produced by Vivek Agrawal, Abir Gulaal was planned as a significant return from Khan to Bollywood after an eight -year interruption. However, the film’s prospects have decreased considerably. In the aftermath of the attack, sources from the Indian government confirmed that the film would not be allowed to be released in India. The decision reflects increased diplomatic tensions and an increase in public feeling against Pakistani artists working in Indian cinema.
Composing the challenges of the film, its promotional content has been systematically deleted from digital platforms. Songs in the film, such as “Angrezi Rangsiya” and “Khudaya Ishq”, have been removed from YouTube channels, including those of the co -producer, a label for richer Saregama lens and music. In addition, Vaani Kapoor has deleted all promotional articles related to Abir Gulaal from his social media accounts.
The financial prospects of the film seem to be sinister. The rights of satellites and OTT would have been unsold, the Vivek Agrawal producer faces the possibility of a complete financial loss. The indefinite shelves of the film affect not only stakeholders, but also underline the fragile nature of cross -border collaborations in the current political climate.
Vaani Kapoor, on the other hand, continues to receive his acclamation for his role in Raid 2, which behaves well at the box office. However, his association with ABIR GULAAL submitted it to a meticulous examination. A close associate of her mentor, Aditya Chopra, pointed out: “I do not think that Adi advised her to make this film. Normally, she is looking for her advice before signing a project.”
As for Fawad Khan, his aspirations for a Bollywood resurgence were thwarted once again. His previous business, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, was faced with similar challenges in the middle of political tensions. The recurring model raises questions about the viability of cross -border artistic efforts in the dominant geopolitical landscape.
