FC Barcelona confirmed that the full back Alejandro Balde has undergone a distal injury to its left hamstrings, without any calendar given upon its return. Balde was injured towards the end of the first half in the victory of Sunday (IST) 1-0 far from his home in Leganes. After following a counter of the local team, the defender felt a problem and was replaced by Gerard Martin. “The tests carried out on Sunday morning on the first Alejandro Balde team confirm that he has a distal injury to his left hamstrings. His return to action with the first team will depend on their recovery,” read the club declaration.

The recovery calendar for an injury to the distal hamstring varies considerably but generally varies from a few weeks to several months. A grade 1 strain could heal in a few days to a few weeks, while a grade 3 (full tear) could take months to heal, potentially requiring surgery. Rehabilitation for distaling of hamstrings generally takes approximately 3 months before returning to sports activities.

This season, Balde was a regular by Hansi Flick, making 42 appearances in all competitions, 37 as a starter. He found the bottom of the net once, the 5-2 victory against Real Madrid in the final of the Espana Supercopa, and provided 10 assists on the side.

The club hopes that Balde’s injury will not be concerned because the 21-year-old was previously excluded for 182 days during the 2023-24 season with a breaking of the tendon.

Barcelona put up her best under the film by coach Hansi and is currently well ready to claim a historic hat-trick, with a seven-point lead at La Liga on Real Madrid, a date with the Los Blancos in the Copa del Rey final and an advance of 4-0 on Borussia Dortmund before the second stage of the UEFA Champions final.
