In the pursuit of Mi, Suryakumar Yadav played a superb blow (67 out of 43) but failed to take the side on the line. The result saw LSG win a place and move to number 6 in the point table at the expense of the IM. Meanwhile, Nicholas Pooran continues to hold the Orange ceiling – now with 201 points in 4 games. The purple cap is with Noor Ahmad – 9 counters in 3 games.
IPL 2025 updated point table –
Friday, Fluent 67 of Cricket and Star Patte-Gatte of Hhedik Pandya in the Cricket and Star Batd of Suryakumar Yadav was in vain while the Super Giants of Lucknow beat the Indians of Mumbai by 12 points in a match of Indian Premier League on Friday.
The captain of Mi Pandya returned with magnificent 5/36 figures in an inspiring bowling performance, but could not prevent LSG from publishing 203 for 8 after being put in the bat. Chasing 204 for a victory, Mi, however, ended at 191 for 5 in 20 overs and exposed the incapacity of the fivefold champions to chase the big targets.
Shardul Thakur’s economic effort in the penultimate on, giving only seven points, tilted the scale in favor of LSG.
MI was reduced to 17 for 2 in 2.2 Overs with the two openers – Will Jacks (5) and Ryan Rickelton (10) – Released at a lower cost.
Jacks, who replaced Rohit Sharma in difficulty at the top of the order after the captain of India was struck on his knees on the Nets, was the first to be rejected from the bowling of Akash Deep who played his first match of the season after driving.
Rickelton followed suit in the third while Shardul claimed his counter with Ravi Bishnoi, who came as an impact player instead of the Mitchell Marsh striker, taking the catch.
Mi was in a disturbing place, but the captain of India T20i Suryakumar Yadav and Naman Dhir ruled the pursuit of the race.
Dhir launched an attack on Akash deep in the fourth with two six and two limits in the first four deliveries to keep hunting.
Suryakumar struck Avesh Khan for a sixth in fifth and played the second violin in Dhir.
Mi was 64 for 2 at the end of PowerPlay, not much behind the corresponding 69 for no loss of LSG in terms of sleeves at the same stage.
The Digvesh Rathi leg spinner, who was sentenced to a fine of 25% of his match fees for his unusual celebration of “writing letters” after rejecting a Kings of Punjab’s Kings, broke the third counter worth 69. He cleaned Dhir in the first ninth ball and made the same gesture, although far from the missing striker.
Tilak Varma then arrived at the fold as an impact submarine for Vignesh Puthur while MI reached 101 for 3 to half. The demand rate continued to climb because there was a shortage of borders in the middle of the middle.
Suryakumar, meanwhile, reached its first fifty bullets with a bishnoi limit in the 14th to keep hunting.
It was not going to be easy for Mi because they needed 61 of the last five Overs and Suryukumar came out in an inappropriate moment with Avesh Khan getting rid of him in the 17th.
Mi needed 40 points from the last three Overs and 29 of the last two with Pandya and Varma settled well. Shardul then gave only seven points to the 19th to tilt the scale in favor of LSG. MI was then forced to remove a varma in difficulty after an unusual slow pace when he marked 25 on 23 balls.
This came, Mitchell Santner and Mi needed 22 points on the final on Bowled by Avesh Khan.
Pandya struck six off Khan at first ball, but the third and fourth deliveries were points. Mi needed 14 points on the last two balls, but Pandya could only get one in the fifth ball, ending the hope of his team of a victory.
Earlier, LSG went up on superb half-century of Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram to publish 203 for 8, despite the transport at five Pandya counters.
Pandya took the counters of Markram (53 out of 38 bullets), Nicholas Pooran (12), Rishabh Pant (2), David Miller (27) and Akash Deep (0), putting brakes on the LSG sleeves.
The LSG had a good start with the first first-time match hitting its third half-century in four games. Its 60 came out of only 31 balls and was strewn with nine four and two.
With the other Markram opener also in Good Nick, LSG was 69 for no loss at the end of the power game. But Mi returned after that with Pandya making crucial bowling alley.
The Spinner of the left arm wrist Vignesh Puthur, who had played in the Mi over Chennai Super Kings victory, was introduced into the seventh and he gave the breakthrough immediately. He had made a marsh and played, breaking the dangerous opening stand of 76 points.
Pandya then put himself into action and had Pooran in the ninth before obtaining the prized counter from Captain LSG Pant (2) which was released at a lower cost.
The defensive player of the replacement Corbin Bosch took a good catch in the middle after Pant failed to negotiate a slower ball off Pandya. Pant, who faced six bullets, continued his bad shape, marked 0, 15, 2 in his three previous sleeves.
LSG was 107 for 3 in 10.4 Overs when Pant was released.
Markram, who had been ordinary so far, defended his team and held an end until he was released in the 18th.
