IPL 2025: Struggling Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad Look To Reignite Campaign

The reigning champions Kolkata Knight Riders and the finalists of last season, Sunrisers Hyderabad, find themselves in troubled waters, after losing two of their last three games, and the two teams will be desperate to relaunch their campaigns when they will lock the IPL in Kolkata on Thursday. KKR’s skipper, Ajinkya Rahane, initially minimized the concerns surrounding his team following a heavy defeat against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru during the opening of the season, insisting that there was “no need to panic”. However, with two defeats in three games – since KKR has lost only three games through the legs at home and outside in their triumphant campaign in IPL 2024 – The atmosphere of the camp is slightly silent.
Battle launched
The goal has now moved to Eden Gardens’ field, which was examined after KKR defeat with seven counters against RCB.
The former KKR opener, Phil Salt and Virat Kohli, took over at home with cleaners, covering a stand of 95 sleeves only 51 balls in a unilateral prosecution of 175.
The Bengal Cricket Association was under pressure to produce a track that helps Kkr’s heavy attack, including Sunil Narine, Moeen Ali and Varun Chakravarthy.
Chakravarthy, fresh of its exploits in the triumph of the Champions Trophy last month, fought on a flat bridge against RCB, Fallant 10.75 points per revenge.
Indian Great and Lucknow Super Giants, the mentor, Zaheer Khan, also called for home advantage after the Punjab Kings has surpassed them at the Ekana stadium, criticizing the field saying: “It seemed that the PBKS curator was here.” The reports suggest that the curator of Eden Gardens Pitch, Sujan Mukherjee, had refused KKR’s request for a track adapted to his opening match, a decision that apparently returned.
Chakravarthy, one of their key spinners, has disclosed 45 points in this match. While Mukherjee defended his position, the president of the CAB, Snehasish Ganguly, has since inspected the field with the sides of the curator, referring to a possible change of approach for the next KKR home games.
Team strategy
Beyond the field, the composition of the KKR team raised questions after the mega auction.
Their shot and bowling units seemed by synchronization, with key players who were not delivered.
In particular, four KKR players released before the auction – the former skipper Shreyas Iyer (PBKS), his assistant Nitish Rana (RR), Phil Salt (RCB) and Pace Seed Mitchell Mitchell Starc (DC) – all excelled in the first 10 days of IPL.
Starc’s departure particularly harmed KKR, because their rhythm attack seems to be swinged in its absence.
To worsen frustration, Starc recorded a 5/35 winning match for DC against SRH during its last outing – the first T20 T20 transport of the Australian and the best bowling figures of the season so far.
The Australian stimulator Spencer Johnson, brought to replace Starc, failed to impress, while Anrich Nortje remains away by a back injury.
Meanwhile, KKR KKR’s Re -Chri Re -Sew, Venkatesh Iyer has only succeeded in nine points of two innings, adding to the misfortunes of the team.
Among the played players, Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Harshit Rana and Ramandeep Singh had trouble finding their contact.
The aggressive approach of the team – assuming 200 is the score by on all locations – also turned against any tactical reassessment is also the need for the time before it is too late.
SRH misfortunes
Sunrisers Hyderabad, after a record of 286/6 in their first season game, had trouble crossing the 200 -point brand in their last two games.
Their approach to ultra-attackers led to collapse against Lucknow Super Giants (190/9) and Delhi Capitals (163 All Out), causing consecutive defeats.
The Pat Cummins team will also have to reassess the strategy as they seek to avenge their loss in the IPL final last season.
The duo pace of Cummins and Mohammed Shami could represent a significant threat to Eden Gardens, where the main stimulator of India, which represents Bengal at the national level, wishes to have an impact in familiar conditions.
The two teams seeking to change their campaigns, this promises to be a battle with high issues where adaptability to conditions could be the decisive factor.
