IPL 2025: Virender Sehwag Openly Mocks RCB, Calls Franchise ‘Gareeb’

While the Premier League Indian franchises (IPL) compare to what the 2025 season could reserve them, the first games painted an intriguing image. The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have place No. 1 on the table of points, having won their two games so far, while Delhi’s capital also have a 100% record of the first two games. In a video that set fire to social networks, the former opening paste of India, Virender Sehwag, could be seen openly making fun of the RCB, calling them “Paux (poor)”.

Sehwag’s comments came in the wake of the brilliant start to the RCB season which sees them placed in first place in the IPL ranking. In a remark in the laggles of the Bengaluru team, Sehwag said that bad teams like RCB should also have the opportunity to take advantage of positions on the points table, because they have never tasted the success of winning an IPL title.

“Gareebon ko bhi toh rehne, photo the thodi der. Pata nahi kitnin der gareeb log upar rahege. (Let the poor be above the IPL points, let them click on photos. Who knows how long they will be at the top),” said Sehwag during a discussion on Cricbuzz.

Sehwag, an explosive opening striker during his active days, who has never won a title IPL as a player while presenting for the capitals of Delhi and the Kings of Punjab, said that his remark “ “ Gareeb ” was a shot to these franchises which did not win IPL titles, as a monetary, each team is rich.

“What do you think, I was talking about money? No. They are all rich in terms of money. The franchises earn 400-500 crosses each season. I do not talk about it. Those who have not won a single trophy, I call them station,” he added.

According to the current lot of IPL teams, only RCB, Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants have not won a title IPL. But, LSG is only part of the T20 League in 2022.
