La Liga Appeal Decision Allowing Barcelona’s Dani Olmo To Play Again

The Spanish Liga posted a call on Monday and asked for precautionary measures against the decision issued by the Spanish Sports Council (CSD) authorizing Barcelona Dani Olmo and Pau Victor players to play until the end of the season. The Liga has published a statement calling for “an urgent judicial response” in the name of sports equity, claiming that the resolution of the CSD “violates” the rules governing the economic control of the Spanish League. The CSD, which is responsible for paying the dispute between Barça and La Liga, ruled in favor of the Catalan club on April 3.
He said that the cancellation of registrations was “zero and not avenue”, allowing the Olmo midfielder, who joined Barça de RB Leipzig last summer, and the young striker Victor to play.
La Liga immediately challenged this decision, saying that it was “not in accordance with the law”.
According to the director body, players’ licenses, which were temporarily registered at the start of the season, after defender Andreas Christensen’s injury, “expired” on December 31 at a time when Barca tried to find a new source of income to comply with the financial rules of Fair-Play.
The Catalan club thought that it had made it when in January, it made the sale of VIP boxes official in the NOU construction camp to investors in the Middle East for around 100 million euros (109 million dollars) over 20 years.
However, according to La Liga: “No amount of the agreement (VIP Box Deal) is ultimately registered in the profit and loss accounts, contrary to what had been certified by the club and the listener at the time of said transaction.”
The CSD had given Olmo and Victor temporary the permission to play again for Barcelona in January, pending a final decision.
Barcelona has been in financial difficulty for several years and, in 2022, sold various parts of the club and income for future television rights to be able to sign stars, notably Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha.
Expenses in the next summer transfer window will be difficult for Barcelona without prior sales if the new vision of the liga of their financial situation remains the same.
