The Punjab Kings opener, Prabhsimran Singh, is optimistic about the chances of his team to make the playoffs for the first time since 2014, because he has played “different” cricket in the era of Ponting Shreyas Iyer-Dryky. Captain Iyer and head coach Ponting are both in the middle of their first season with Punjab Kings, but Prabhsimran has been around since 2019. He has worked with several captains and coaches in his long passage to the Kings of Punjab, but thinks that Iyer-Ponting brings a breath of fresh air. “It’s been seven years for me for me with the kings of Punjab. So, obviously, they have supported me a lot. And you can say that this year, we are playing a very different cricket. And I think we are dominating most of the time,” he said in the Star Sports press room.
“Unfortunately, it rained in the last match (against KKR). But the chances of qualification are still very high. And obviously, if we qualify, then we will turn to the trophy. The team trusted me all these years, now it is my turn to reimburse them.” The kings of Punjab beat with Flair this season and even won a weak score against KKR at home, successfully defending 112.
“Our coach is very positive and even the captain too. He fully supports you. You don’t have to think about what will happen if this happens. Iyer also makes decisions in his mind and accepts it independently of the result,” said Prabhsimran.
Prabhsimran was one of the two players preserved by the franchise before the mega auction, the other being Shashank Singh. He established himself at the top of the order in the last two seasons after warming the bench in the early years.
He recalled that it was the advice of the sage of the Grand Sachin Tendulkar who pushed him to give the best not to be presented in the eleven of play.
