Ricky Ponting Calls Reporter’s Shreyas Iyer Question Career Threatening: “If I Want To Stay…”

After the Kings of Punjab beat Kolkata Knight Riders to win a historic victory, their head coach Ricky Ponting was invited to move the Skipper Shreyas Iyer of the number 3, to push Glenn Maxwell in order. Maxwell, who was roped by PBKS for Rs 4.2 crores, has a hard time for races. Maxwell managed to score only 41 points after six games. Iyer, on the other hand, was a real leader for PBKS at No. 3 when he hammered 250 points in six games.

On the suggestion to change the position of Iyer with Maxwell, Ponting said hilariously that he did not want to play with the captain.

“Yeah, we have a guy called Shreyas Iyer in number 3. If I want to stay in my work, I will probably not move the captain. So, as we all know, the captain defines the order of the strikers. He is quite happy at number 3 and he was exceptional in the tournament. So, you know that we are still trying to kkr.

“These are not figures that these guys beat. This is the right time you can inject them into the game. So we have good flexibility with our strike order. We have already moved a few guys this season. As things happen, and we have added a more installed side, there will probably not be too many guys,” he added.

Before the match against KKR, PBKS took a strange call and dropped the versatile Marcus Stoinis of the Xi Playing and gave the first cap to the josh Inglis grovery. Ponting called this difficult but tactical decision.

“Yeah, a difficult decision to leave Stoinis away, you know, we wanted to bring Inglis to the side. Inglis is a renowned spin player who probably did not look like tonight this evening, but he is a very good spin player. His maintenance is as good as anyone in the world too, and we also wanted the games with the ball with Marco,” said the Ponte.
