Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, Chirag Shetty Finally Get Their Khel Ratna; Hope For End To ‘Difficult Phase’ Soon

The Minister of Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya, presented the prize of Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna to the Stars of the Badminton Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankeireddy on Thursday, ending a long -term congratulations which, according to the famous duo, would help him to equalize the “difficult phase” aggravated by fitness problems. Chirag and Satwik had to receive the honor last year after being chosen for the year 2023, but could not attend the sparkling ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhawan because of their gaming commitments.

They had to receive the Mandaviya Prize in February of this year, but it also had to be postponed after the father of Satwik, R Kasi Viswanatham, died of a cardiac arrest on the day of the brief ceremony for which he was to travel.

“We could not go to the Rashtrapati Bhawan to receive the Khel Ratna Prize last year. Finally, to obtain it now, it is a huge boost for our confidence when we have moved away from the track and have not been playing for a few months,” said Satwik, referring to the recent form emission and the fitness backs that the two lost.

“It motivates us to come back and do well in the tournaments to come,” he added.

Mandaviya praised the “dedication and exceptional performance of the duo”. However, they have not been in the best form for a year with the disappointing show in the All England championship in March being an example. They withdrew from the current Southwoman Cup due to health problems.

“It is quite difficult, after the Olympic Games, so much have happened. It is part of life but things will come back on the right track and it’s just a bad phase. Chirag was injured for a few days, I was sick for a few days.

“We played all of England but we could not do well, but it’s just a matter of time, once we are back on tour, there is not to stop,” said Satwik.

Despite the recent collapse, Satwik and Chirag were pioneers in Indian badminton.

The duo won a gold medal at Asian games and the Commonwealth 2022 and the 2023 Asian championships. The duo is the only pair of Indian doubles to hold room 1 in the world BWF ranking and to win a BWF World Tour 1000 title.

In 2023, Satwik also set a world record Guinness for the fastest badminton of a male player, reaching a speed of 565 km / h.

“Finally, we received it today. It was long.

“All our big victories – whether to become the world No. 1, winning Asian gold matches or winning the title of the Thomas Cup – a lot of credit goes to the Indian government for their continuous support,” he added.
